Ingredients
  

For the Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1 cup Soy sauce, preferably low sodium
  • 1/4 cup Rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Honey or brown sugar Adjust to taste for sweetness
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil To mix in the sauce
For the Salmon
  • 4 fillets Fresh salmon fillets, skin-on or skinless Ensure they are fresh
  • to taste Black pepper, freshly cracked
  • 2 tbsp Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds (for topping)
  • to taste Red pepper flakes (for heat, if desired)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all ingredients and ensure the salmon is fresh.
  2. Rinse the salmon fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Mince the garlic and ginger finely.
Making the Teriyaki Sauce
  1. Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey or brown sugar, minced garlic, and ginger in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until it thickens, then mix in a dash of sesame oil.
Marinating the Salmon
  1. Season the salmon fillets with freshly cracked black pepper.
  2. Place fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the prepared teriyaki sauce over them.
  3. Marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.
Cooking the Salmon
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. Transfer marinated salmon to the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. Drizzle remaining teriyaki sauce over salmon and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Tasty alternatives include using trout, mackerel, or tofu. For added creativity, consider using fruit in the teriyaki sauce or grilling the salmon.
