  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Seasonings and Add-ins
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract Optional, for additional flavor.

  • as desired tablespoons sprinkles or decorative sugars For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients. Ensure butter is softened to room temperature.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mixing
  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough into portions and add food coloring to each for layering.
Assembling
  1. Layer the colored dough in a greased or lined baking pan, pressing layers together and swirling for a marbled effect.
  2. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes, then cut into desired shapes.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  4. Allow cookies to cool before decorating with sprinkles or icing.

Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
