Method
Preparation
- Gather all of your ingredients and allow the butter to soften at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
Mixing Dry Ingredients
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Mixing Wet Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing well after each addition.
- Slowly incorporate the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Shaping and Baking
- Using a piping bag fitted with a large round tip, pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheets in the shape of wreaths.
- Create a small hole in the center of each wreath and decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
- Allow them to cool on a wire rack.
